Post by WillPost by Neil JonesThis is a very short and interesting test. You got to have a pen and
paper ready.
Yuk. "You have got to have a pen and paper ready", or "You must have
a pen and paper ready."
Curiously enough, it is not so bad when you contract it further
'You gotta have a pen and paper ready.' is unexceptional informal
English, I'd even prefer it to "You have got to have a pen and paper
ready" In general, I am an inveterate enemy of all 'have got's except
rarely as when you say 'You've got to help me' as a more keenly urgent
variant of 'You have to help me' or even 'You must help me'
