Hi all,

I'm an English teacher in Japan, working at a small, private school.
Part of the job is creating new possible classes that would be
interesting and fun for students. I had the idea of building a class
around American TV shows. I'm sure I could handle the logistics of it
(planning and whatnot), but I'm unsure about the legal ramifications
of it.

If I purchase a DVD box set of 'Friends', am I able to show episodes
in class on a regular basis. Since students are paying for this class,
it seems iffy. Any ideas?

Thanks.

No US copyright holder is going to GAF what you do with a store bought CD in
your Japanese ESL class, if that's what you're asking. The problem I see is
that by showing your class Friends you're likely going to produce a class
full of vapid thirty something yuppie shit for brains.
